Steve Jobs rips Flash

By: Marcellus Haynes on April 29, 2010

As a website developer, I’ve never been a big fan of Adobe Flash; mostly because I never grasped the technology well enough to create anything with it.  I’m also not a fan because of it’s shortcomings in terms of developing websites (SEO comes to mind here).  I don’t consider myself to be a Guru of any sort, so in a debate over the merits of Flash, you can take my opinion with a grain of salt.  Steve Jobs on the other hand possesses arguably the sharpest technology mind in recent history and he has all but dealt a death blow to Flash in his recent “Thoughts on Flash” blog posting.   What do you think?  Are Flash’s best days dead and gone?   Read blog post…

  1. Flash always seemed to be a stepping stone – something to take us from an Internet the lacked the tools and technology to deliver rich content, through to a time where many tools and technologies were available for such things. The slow pace for adopting HTML5 only helped Flash gain ground. But I think many have used Flash as that stepping stone, and are moving towards that other side of the stream, and as such, they will leave flash behind, while being apreciative of the fact that it helped them get to a much better place.
